Dr. Shord serves as team lead in the Office of Clinical Pharmacology at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where she previously served as a clinical pharmacology reviewer for five years.
Prior to her work at the FDA, Dr. Shord was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she conducted in vitro, nonclinical and clinical research, taught pharmacogenomics and clinical pharmacology of anticancer and supportive care therapies to professional and graduate students, and provided primary care to patients with cancer and sickle cell anemia in inpatient and outpatient settings. Her research interests included optimizing administration of chemotherapy agents and supportive care medications by studying their pharmacokinetic parameters and drug metabolism and disposition.
Dr. Shord received her Pharm.D. from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She completed a pharmacy residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and an oncology pharmacy residency and a pharmacotherapy fellowship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
