Richard Pazdur, M.D.
Director of the Office of Hematology and Oncology Products, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Dr. Pazdur facilitates coordination of oncology activities across all Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Centers and ensures ongoing outreach and collaboration between the FDA, the National Cancer Institute and other cancer-related organizations within and outside of government. Prior to joining the FDA, Dr. Pazdur was professor of medicine at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where he served as assistant vice president for academic affairs, associate director of clinical trials administration in the division of medicine, and director of educational programs in the division of medicine.
His primary research interests are in clinical trial design and drug development of anti-cancer agents in advanced colorectal cancer, for which he has performed numerous phase I, II, III, and adjuvant therapy trials. Dr. Pazdur has published over 300 articles, book chapters and abstracts.
